Consented activities on the Calwell hardstand
We are reviewing the consent requirements for vessel maintenance activities on the new hardstand. This includes identifying which activities may require new or updated consents, and which have existing use rights from the previous slipway operations.
The review covers activities such as water blasting, garnet or grit blasting, and spray painting, alongside consents already held by local painting companies operating at the site.
Some of these activities were previously carried out within dedicated enclosed spaces, and the project team is exploring short-term solutions to recreate these areas to ensure continuity of service. At the same time, work is underway to identify long-term, sustainable options that will enable these activities across multiple hardstand spaces.
We’ll continue to keep you updated as we move closer to the yard’s opening date.
